Buchecha Out Of Metamoris 7: They Prematurely Advertised Without My Agreement’

The headliner of Metamoris 7 is no more.

Marcus Buchecha was planned to face Roger Gracie in the rematch of their Metamoris 1 superfight, but now official news has emerged that he will not be competing at the upcoming Metamoris 7 event, “Buchecha” has confirmed to MMA Fighting.

Almeida said in a statement released to MMA Fighting:

“There will not be a rematch between myself and Roger Gracie at Metamoris 7. Although I never officially announced this rematch, unfortunately, others did prematurely advertise it before there was an agreement. As always, I thank you for your support, and apologize to any of you who may be disappointed by this. Believe me, I’m as disappointed as you are. I assure you that there was nothing that I wanted more than to give the fans a chance to see a second fight between me and Roger. Hopefully, we’re somehow able to come to an agreement at a future date, and the fight can go on.

“But now, I move forward and I’m eager to once again reclaim my title as world champion this June. I would like to say thank you to everyone who support me during this past year and believe me now I’m back. By the way, congrats Roger Gracie on your victory and for your first MMA belt, always showing the efficiency of our art in the cage.”

Last month, BJJEE journalists were present at UFC Zagreb and according to sources close to Buchecha and Roger Gracie, the word was that Buchecha was going to sue the promotion for having promoted the event and having used his image without his agreement.

Reports emerged confirming the rumors that Marcus Buchecha was asking to be paid up front by Metamoris, following the promotion’s history of non payment of athletes.

Metamoris started advertising a match up between Marcus Buchecha and Roger Gracie at a planned Metamoris 7 event, despite the fact that they hadn’t reached an agreement with Bucheca and he hadn’t signed up yet. BJJEE found out from sources close to Buchecha that he was asking for money up front.

Roger Gracie told MMA Fighting on Tuesday that he does not want to compete in Metamoris as well:

“I have no interesting in fighting anyone else. It’s highly likely that I won’t fight anyone else. I want to dedicate myself 100 percent to MMA now.”

Metamoris founder Ralek Gracie

The professional grappling promotion, Metamoris, and most notably its founder Ralek Gracie has been under fire for the past few months for various reasons.

The main ones are:

-Scheduling events on the same weekend as EBI and the same day as Copa Podio
-Disrespecting Female Competitors
-Untrustworthy Online Site and Automatic Renewals
-Not paying Metamoris Challenger/Underground Competitors, and staff.

It is now unsure if the event is still set for July 17th at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles. Metamoris was hoping for the event  to be able to repay its debts and keep the company affloat.
