Competing in the adult brown belt lightweight division!
Maverick triumphed in her first three matches, showcasing her skills with two Guillotine Choke submissions and a victory via decision.
She then had a challenging match against ATOS’s rising star Laura Sileci, where she narrowly missed the gold, losing on points.
She shared her excitement via social media:
I got 2nd which may seem huge and may seem small to some.
In the end, I am never happy losing even amongst the best in the world, BUT I could see huge improvements I’ve made in my jiu-jitsu game!I had 4 matches & won 3 (2 by guillotine, the other by decision).
The finals I lost by points.
And, yes – it appears that Jiu-Jitsu is what got Maverick started on the journey of martial arts:
Although MMA is of course my focus, BJJ is what started me down this crazy road and I absolutely love testing my skills against the best.
If I want to be the best, I have to go up against the best.
