Mikey Musumeci Rants On People Criticizing Butt Scooting: “You’re Just Wasting Time”

What are your thoughts on pulling guard and butt scooting in Jiu-Jitsu?
Well, it appears that Mikey Musumeci has had enough of people criticizing both aspects.

In a recent Instagram video, Musumeci spoke against the critics:

The first thing that I’m going to say is – this is sport Jiu-Jitsu!
There’s no striking in sport Jiu-Jitsu…

Obviously, in a real fight in the street, on concrete, you’re not going to pull guard.
But in sport Jiu-Jitsu, the goal is to be able to submit the person as fast as you can.

Mikey then transitioned to another topic – wrestling in Jiu-Jitsu.
And he brought up some rather valid arguments:

You’ll constantly see two guys wrestling in Jiu-Jitsu and, let’s be honest… Jiu-Jitsu people suck at wrestling.
Any D1 wrestler will destroy most Jiu-Jitsu people in wrestling. We’re horrible at it!

And then you’ll see two Jiu-Jitsu guys hand fighting, nobody is shooting, so they’re hand fighting the whole time.
So what are you doing, then?

You’re not trying to do submissions, you’re not doing nothing, you’re just hand fighting and just wasting time.

Who wants to see that? Guard pullers are trying to get the submission, which is the goal of Jiu-Jitsu…
To submit the person as fast as you can.
