JK Rowling Voices Support for Female Grappler’s Criticism Of Match Vs Transgender Athlete

Ansleigh Wilk competed in a tournament a few weeks back… And, unexpectedly, came across a transgender athlete in her division.

And, well, it appears that Wilk didn’t know about it beforehand – nor did she have a choice if she’ll compete against the athlete or not.
Here’s what she had to say via social media:

While I won the match, this was completely undisclosed I was fighting a trans athlete and completely unfair for me to not have a choice or any preparation to prepare for something so different.

And especially unfair to the girls that were traumatized by this even of unknowingly going against a trans athlete.

And wouldn’t you know it – famed writer JK Rowling stepped in to support the female athlete!
Here’s what Rowling had to say:

You’ve done nothing wrong. This isn’t, and never was, about hate, it’s about fairness and safety for women and girls.
You stood up to protect your fellow athletes, which makes you a heroine in all sane people’s eyes.

I know backlashes aren’t fun (believe me, I know) but there are things far more important than pleasing all the people, all the time.

All power to you.
