Highest Paid Athletes Ever: Where Does Conor McGregor Stand On The Ranks?

It almost goes without saying that Conor McGregor is the biggest star ever in mixed martial arts (MMA).

Back in 2013, McGregor started his UFC journey with a bang – knocking out Marcus Brimage in just 13 seconds at UFC on Fuel TV 9.
And, even though he was already a hot prospect from Cage Warriors, a UK-based promotion, nobody imagined how high he’d soar in just three years’ time.

McGregor’s 13-second win over Jose Aldo at UFC 194 catapulted him into stardom, as he went on to have legendary fights with Nate Diaz, Eddie Alvarez, and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Today, McGregor holds the record for eight of the top 10 highest-grossing pay-per-views in UFC history.
But where does he stand in comparison to the other athletes, in other sports, when it comes to payday?

Well, according to Sportico, he is the 50th highest-paid athlete ever, with $550 million.

He’s just behind NFL quarterbacks Drew Brees and Aaron Rodgers, each with $560 million.
Among combat sports fighters, only Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather sits higher in the top 10, earning $1.14 billion throughout his career.

Other combat sports greats on the list include Mike Tyson at 18 with $905 million, Manny Pacquiao at 22 with $750 million, George Foreman at 26 with $705 million, Oscar De La Hoya at 29 with $685 million, Canelo Alvarez at 37 with $640 million, and Evander Holyfield at 40 with $630 million.
