Demetrious Johnson Believes Gordon Ryan Could Be A World Champion In MMA

Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson recently shared his thoughts on Gordon Ryan’s potential crossover from BJJ to MMA…
And he believes that Ryan would do more than well in the octagon.

Why? He explained in a viral video:

If you wanted to do MMA it would be easy for him to punch people.
Hardest thing that Gordon Ryan would have to get by is just the hands.

I feel like the hands in mixed martial arts is a small curriculum, where having good ground (game) and knowing where to push and move, and hold somebody down and control the fight… you become a world champion.

There’s plenty of athletes who’ve been great wrestlers: Brock Lesnar, Ben Askren, Matt Hughes, I mean the list just goes on…
Who are very dominant wrestlers or grapplers that have become world champions.

Johnson believes that Ryan could even be a world champion in MMA:

If Gordon Ryan wanted to fight, I think he could probably be world champion in mixed martial arts.
He’s just gotta get past the striking part, his ground is so good that he’d be fine.

He’s also small.
What I mean by small for the heavyweight division, he’d have to go down to 205.

And I don’t know if he’d be able to pass any drug tests but he makes so much money from grappling that he doesn’t have to do mixed martial arts.

But I think he could be a world champion in MMA.
