Bia Mesquita Set For MMA Debut On June 15 (Sao Paulo, Brazil)

Bia Mesquita is set to make her anticipated MMA debut on June 15 in Sao Paulo, Brazil – where she will face Jorgina Ramos in a bantamweight bout, at Spaten Fight Night.

The news were confirmed to MMA Fighting by multiple sources familiar with the event.

The fight card will be headlined by a boxing match between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen.
Additionally, it will feature Silva’s son, Kalyl Silva, and 2020 Olympic gold medalist Hebert Conceição.

Mesquita, a recent inductee into the IBJJF Hall of Fame, has had an impressive BJJ career with 10 world titles, including two in the absolute division.
She has also won Pan-American and European championships under the IBJJF banner, along with major titles in Abu Dhabi.

After joining American Top Team in Florida, Mesquita announced her transition to MMA – following a submission victory over former UFC champion Miesha Tate in a grappling match in December 2022.
She also recently submitted former UFC title challenger Jennifer Maia at ADXC.

Ramos, who has a background in boxing and kickboxing, competed once under MMA rules, earning a majority draw this past March in Rio de Janeiro.

Given that she is a blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, Ramos will be looking to leverage her striking experience against the grappling skills of Mesquita.
