AJ Agazarm Answers Critics Of His ‘Enthusiastic’ 2015 Pan Commentary on FloGrappling

This weekend, FloGrappling was doing a live stream of the 2015 No Gi Pan (They will be doing live streams for most of the major IBJJF tournaments).

BJJ top competitor AJ Agazarm was doing the live commentary and decided to give us something a bit different. AJ was clearly fired up and enthusiastic in his commentary which is a bit different from the more ‘down tone’ commentary usually found on other BJJ live streams.

We at BJJEE liked AJ’s commentating style as he his obviously pouring his heart out, but some BJJ fans didn’t particularly appreciate it.

Some comments on Reddit/BJJ forum:

Does the commentator have Down’s syndrome?

He sounds like he constantly salivates when he speaks…

Others liked the commentating:

I think the commentator did a good job being excited by the fight, accurate description of the moves, not leaving awkward blanks… Really low blow to make fun of his voice…

That commentator was so bad it made me feel like it might be satire…? Like, someone has to be trying to be terrible in order to be that terrible.

What did AJ have to say?

From his Facebook:

The passion I have for the art, its athletes, and our events pours into everything I do. Thank you to all who told me you loved the commentary and that it made the matches more exciting. I get my rocks off with exciting BJJ especially with matches like this one. Two Americans, former teammates, semi finals of the absolute PanAms, battling it out in front of both their home crowds. I love this stuff. If you don’t like it, go watch some underwater basket weaving for some boring commentary. FloGrappling is looking to heighten our sport and some things like bland commentary aren’t going to help that.

Here is a video. Judge for yourselves:
