Bernardo Faria has been invited to compete at the 2015 ADCC which will held in August in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

This will be Bernardo Faria’s first ever participation in ADCC. Faria is this year’s weight and absolute BJJ world champion.

He will be competing one weight class above, at +99kgs.

Bernardo posted  on his Facebook:

“Just got invited to compete in the ADCC in the end of August! They invited me for the division +218 pounds (+99kg), this is not my right division once my weight is 215, but no problem, we love challenges and this is going to be one more challenge for us! I will train as hard as I can to get there ready!”

With the good news for Bernardo also comes some bad news:

3x World absolute champion Marcus Buchecha Almeida will undergo surgery for the knee injury that he sustained against Ricardo Evangelista during their 3rd round encounter at the Worlds 3 weeks ago.
Evangelista injured Buchecha went he went for a waiter sweep from half guard. Buchecha had to withdraw from the rest of the tournament.
This means that Buchecha is out of the upcoming ADCC 2015.
