Vinny Magalhaes is looking forward to starting his own school!
He’s announced on his personal facebook yesterday that he’s leaving Syndicate Mixed Martial Arts.
Vinny Magalhaes was one of the top BJJ competitors of his generation but he is nowadays known for his successful MMA career. He was a finalist of The Ultimate Fighter season 8 and he’s famous for his aggressive submission oriented game. He last fought in the UFC 163 but he has since transitioned to World Series of Fighting and Titan Fighting Championship. Vinny is 31 years old and his MMA record stands at 14 wins, 7 losses. 11 of his 14 Wins were via Submissions.

The 3 x ADCC medalist has been a fierce competitor for years. He is also still active on the grappling scene. Last year at ADCC 2015, he defeated Garry Tonon in the Absolute division and Joao Rocha to place 3rd in the over 99kg division.
While Vinny leaves Syndicate determined to make his own path – his teachings and influence he’s had on students are still apparent on The Ultimate Fighter, because this on-going season features a number of fighters from Syndicate Mixed Martial Arts. As many as 3 of the 16 featured fighters on this season are from Syndicate MMA.
Syndicate Mixed Martial Arts have made their own announcement – Magalhaes will be succeeded by Alexandre “Capitao” Almeida, a 2nd degree black belt under Rodrigo Pinheiro. There appears to be no bad blood between Syndicate and Magalhaes who have taken the opportunity to wish Vinny all the best in future endeavors in the same posting.
