UFC’s Cezar Mutante Was an Uber Driver During Injury Layoff

Cezar Jesus Ferreira better known in his home country Brazil as Cezar Mutante, had a submission win over Jack Hermansson (14-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) on Saturday’s FS1-televised UFC Fight Night 100 prelims at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo.

Ferreira (11-5 MMA, 7-3 UFC) talked about his job working as an Uber driver when he was recovering from a spinal surgery where he head to deal with intense pain on a daily basis.

Mutante drove up to eight hours to make $100. Sometimes people would recognize him and he would get a good tip:

“I’m so glad that I did that,” he said. “It was a good experience. After that, I think about the value of money. It’s hard to make money in life.”

 

Last Saturday, he was awarded the $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night.”
