UFC Champion Rob Whittaker Wins Commonwealth Games Wrestling Spot

 

 

Robert Whittaker is set to earn another place in the history! The current UFC middleweight champion will be the first active UFC champion competing at the Commonwealth Games.

Australia’s first UFC champion earned his spot on the Australia wrestling team for the upcoming Gold Coast Games! The games will be helf April 4th and UFC is fully aware.

Appeals have this week been overruled, leaving Wrestling Australia to confirm the UFC middleweight star’s groundbreaking move at a team selection announcement later this week.

Already, Whittaker has spoken at length of his desire to represent Australia at the Games.

His coaches are also more than happy for the man dubbed ‘Bobby Knuckles’ to compete, adamant the Gold Coast event doubles as a perfect preparation for his first title defence against Cuban Yoel Romero later this year.

The Sydneysider will represent Australia in the 97kg division.

Whittaker is a bjj brown belt since May of last year. He has been very outspoken about his desire to represent Australia:
