Studio 540 Challenge provided quite a bit of excitement!
The event started off with young Nicky Ryan facing off against Rubens Cobrinha Charles’ son – Kennedy Maciel. The match was flying by as the two kept being vigilant in attempts to sub each other. The edge belonged to Kennedy Maciel for the most of the fight as he spent the majority of the fight holding the back of Nicky Ryan and maintaining head control. This is no slam of Nicky Ryan’s skills as he kept trying and occasionally escaping but to no avail.
The fight ended up going into overtime with both opting to take the back of the other. While Maciel managed to escape in overtime, Ryan got submitted by a triangle.
In the 2nd event of the night Garry Tonon faced off against Kim Terra. Now in spite of the challenge issued by Terra Tonon made no attempt to spank him – in fact it was Terra that did the spanking. But he couldn’t maintain the position and progress into back control.
Instead he ended up being caught in Tonon’s crucifix and ultimately guillotine. Very similar to a setup Tonon showed in the clip below couple years back
The event of the night saw Gordon Ryan doing his best to achieve leg entanglements on Felipe Pena. Pena was more concerned with passing which he practiced plenty. He tried passing on both sides and with plenty of skill to boot. However there was no dice and the two were duking it out with plenty of back and forts for the duration of first 30 minutes.
However around minute 40 Felipe Pena managed to secure the back of Ryan and sink in an RNC!
Pena went on to challenge Ryan to a gi fight! It will be quite interesting to see if Ryan accepts.
