Should Rolling with a Woman be Different from with a Man?

Brazilian jiu-jitsu cannot be separated from the live application for it. So by definition there’s bound to be plenty of interactions that would make a casual passer-by uncomfortable. But as a grappler there are certain common courtesies to adhere to!

Women have proven many times that despite their size, they are often able to match men. Anyway, the idea behind jiu-jitsu is that the smaller opponent should be able to defeat the larger one. However, the question often arises on the mat, should I roll differently with women than with men?

Many believe that only smaller men should train with women. In fact, it is not about fighting everyone equally, but in a way that will not endanger our training partner and allow us to learn a lesson from each sparring.

Ramsey Dewey in this YT video dispels some doubts by answering the following questions, but also presenting how he trains with his students:

Do you bully your female training partner with a rough male partner and do you treat the women you fight as vulnerable children?
Regardless of gender, do you crush everyone in your club?
Are you a good training partner who knows how to control your strength without damaging other people, regardless of gender, size or experience?
