Marcus Buchecha Has an Easy Half Guard to Back Take Sequence

Marcus Buchecha Has an Easy Half Guard to Back Take Sequence

Multiple Time IBJJF and ADCC World Champion Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida shows a powerful Half Guard technique that he uses frequently and transitions into a back take sequence.

Buchecha start the sequence from knee shield half guard. He usually likes to control the near arm and set up a rollover sweep like this one:

But what is stopping Buchecha to set up that magical rollover sweep is the opponent’s grip on his lapel which is controlling his chest. So Buchecha goes for a two on one grip on one and breaks the grip, dragging the arm accross. He then is able to grab the hip and set up the Coyote half guard, reaping the leg. He learned this from his teammate Lucas Leite:

The Easiest Half Guard Sweep For A BJJ White Belt

From there, Buchcha is able to hip escape and take the back. Easy.
