Makhachev Demonstrates Takedowns, ‘Ignores’ Jiu-Jitsu & Praises Sambo & Judo: ‘They are More Effective’

Islam Makhachev is diligently preparing for his upcoming bout against Charles do Bronx at UFC 294, taking place in Abu Dhabi on October 21st. Recently, a video was shared on social media showcasing Makhachev’s training in Sambo and Judo, where he skillfully executes a series of throws and takedowns on his training partner.
Makhachev emphasizes the importance of developing skills in various areas. He believes that utilizing Sambo and Judo techniques to take the fight to the ground is both effective and efficient, requiring less energy. In the video caption, he explains his preference for these techniques.

“We need to develop in all directions. Most of the time, to transfer my fights to the ground, I use Sambo and Judo sweeps and throws. In my opinion, they are more effective and consume less energy”, said Islam in the caption of the published video.
