Legendary Gym Stories: When Liborio Wiped out the Carlson Gracie Competition Team

He was recently a guest on the best BJJ podcast Grappling central podcast where he talked about various interesting topics.

About his superfight vs Chael Sonnen:

I’m glad. Chael is a big name and is a great athlete. He’s an extremely talented wrestler. I’m doing for the challenge. He’s 10 years younger than me. Technically I have a chance. I’m so here to do this. I’m this 50 year old who just wants to be there, who wants to be training and who wants to win. I’m having fun.

On his strategy:

I’m not going to attempt to take him down (laughs). I see him getting into my guard. We’ll see. I have so many high level Wrestlers that I’m training with.

Advice for those that want to grapple into their 70’s:

Pick your pace. Go punch the clock. Go as much as you can. Go training because you enjoy all the aspects of training. The key for success is to keep doing it every day. Just keep going.
