Cyborg Will Have Open Heart Surgery in 2020

ADCC champion Roberto ‘Cyborg’ Abreu did it again this weekend. He conquered his 6th No Gi world championship in dominating fashion.
After a dissappointing ADCC campaign this is a sweet comeback for the Tornado king. During the event,Cyborg was interviewed and he revealed something that was quite alarming. He will need to have open heart surgery next year.

Cyborg suffers from a condition called Arrhythmia which is when the heart beats faster than usual.

Arrhythmias can happen due to a variety of factors, such as heart attack, hypertension, coronary heart disease, abnormal thyroid hormone production, and other heart diseases.

Arrhythmias can also be a result of smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, illegal drugs, caffeine, or even over-the-counter or prescription medications. Some people may experience arrhythmia because of stressful situations, such as work-related stress.

People who are born with congenital disease are also at risk of arrhythmia.

In Cyborg’s case, his condition is called Tachycardia.

Surgery, if a failing heart valve is causing arrhythmia, involves repairing the valve through a surgical procedure. If the doctor determines that the cause of arrhythmia is a coronary heart disease, a coronary artery bypass surgical procedure will be performed.

Cyborg had already talked about this problem after his loss to Andre Galvao at the 2015 ADCC superfight:

I want to thank the love and support of all. I prepared myself to fight like I never prepared myself before. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Unfortunately I have a heart problem that happens from time to time called tachycardia and unfortunately happened before the fight. I had tachycardia warming Up for the fight and i could not recover in time. IM not taking at all the merits of Andre as he is a great athlete and fought hard. But unfortunately I could not fight this time. I am saddened by the feeling of helplessness of not having what to do, and I have not been able to represent myself. Im sorry for today! ???? I’ll keep working hard and I’ll be back! Thanks to All.

This time, Cyborg will need surgery sometime in 2020.
