Cowboy Cerrone Calls Maia a T*rd, Claims He’s Never Been In An Interesting Match

Cowboy Cerrone has been a jiu-jitsu black belt for a bit over a year but this doesn’t make him instantly supportive of the biggest representative of bjj in the Octagon – Demian Maia. In fact Cowboy hasn’t shied away from flat out insulting Maia in latest interview. Here’s what he said:

“It seems that whoever wins a boring fight gets all the blame. But the opponent gets away with it. ” the interviewer prompted Cerrone who in turn answered:

“Everyone already knows Demian (Maia) is a f*cking t*rd. You know what I’m saying? Like That wasn’t the least surprising to me. He’s never had an exciting fight in his life, ever. It’s not like – OH I bet this one he’s really gonna go out there and f***ing throw down. You know what I mean?”

In spite of flat out insulting Maia, Cerrone insisted he has no personal animosity:

“I’ve got nothing against Demian, he goes out there and does what he does “

As for Maia he might be looking at a Gunnar Nelson rematch or perhaps a different match altogether.

With Woodley out for at least 3 months the division is rumored to be getting an interim title. Woodley said that he hurt his shoulder in the second round, which limited the use of his patented right hand strike in Maia match up.

“I’m going to get a second or third opinion on this shoulder, see what I need to do to get back as fast as I can,” Woodley told The MMA Hour on Monday (transcription via MMA Fighting). “And if anybody says, utters, mumbles, accidentally says the word ‘interim,’ I’m going to lose my sh-t. Because I fought four world title fights in 12 months, and I was prepared to fight five in 18 months coming out in November. So, I dare somebody to say anything about a goddang interim title. I will lose my top, because I’ve seen athletes injured for years, months, never defended — how many belts has Conor McGregor defended?

“Let’s keep everything consistent, people. Let’s keep everything equal, let’s keep everything the same. Don’t mention an interim title. I am so going to flip a screw.”
