World champion of jiu-jitsu and training partner of former UFC champion Ben Henderson, Augusto Mendes is building himself a successful career in MMA, similar to that made on the mat.
Undefeated, the bantamweight (135 lbs / 61kg) snatched his fourth win in last Friday (13th), in Texas (USA), at Legacy FC, with a TKO victory over Evan Martinez in the second round.
It is the first victory of Tanquinho by knockout, the last three were by submission.
The fight between the Brazilian and the American pitted two undefeated fighters in their short careers in MMA. Martinez was fighting at home – born in Texas – Tanquinho did not feel the pressure and got his first win without being by submission.
With little more than three minutes in the second round, Tanquinho hit a series of punches which stunned his opponent and easily managed to take him down and hit him with four elbows and secure his fourth win in MMA.
