UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (21-1 MMA, 15-1 UFC) successfully defended his title for an eighth consecutive time after defeating Daniel Cormier (15-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) via unanimous decision at the Jan. 3 UFC event. He was randomly tested on Dec. 3, and results came back on Dec. 23.
The drug test detected benzoylecgonine, a primary metabolite of cocaine.
Joe Rogan and his co-hosts heard the news live during the Joe Rogan podcast and they were shocked. Rogan indicated that cocaine metabolites only stay in your system for a few days, so they checked out Jones’s twitter feed a few days before the December 3 test and they found out that Jones was in Brazil for a few days promoting the UFC…
