The IBJJF is giving back big time to its champions in 2016. Professional Jiu-Jitsu has finally arrived.
IBJJF has just announced the launch of the 2016 IBJJF Pro League GP. Some of the best Jiu-Jitsu athletes in the world will be fighting in 8 men bracket format for a US$50,000 money prize (1rst place $40K and second place $10k) to be held on July 9th. Las Vegas /UFC Fan Expo.
Confirmed competitors: Marcus Buchecha, Bernardo Faria, Xande Ribeiro, Joao Rocha, Romulo Barral + 2 more TBA.
This puts the IBJJF GP on the same level as EBI (50,000$ but tournament winner gets paid $12,500 for each submission in regulation and $0 for submissions in OT) and ADCC (First place – $40,000 absolute, $10,000 weight) and above Abu Dhabi World Pro$30,000 (absolute), $8000 (weight).
This comes 2 days after the IBJJF also awarded the best ranked black belt adult athletes of the 2015/2016 season.
The winners were Paulo Miyao and Mackenzie Dern who received $15,000.
Joao Miyao who was ranked second was awarded $4,000, and Bernardo Faria who came third, won $1,000.
For the females, Andresa Correa (2nd) won $4,000 and Bia Mesquita (3rd) won $1,000.
