Vinny Magalhaes On McGregor’s Jiu-Jitsu Haters: ‘Go Berimbolo in an MMA Fight’

Nate Diaz shocked the world when he defeated Conor McGregor at UFC 196 with a rear naked choke. Millions of Jiu-Jitsu practitioners went on a rampage of memes and statements criticising McGregor’s Jiu-Jitsu skills.

Memes such as

mcgregor

or

gazelle

MMA fighter and ADCC champion Vinny Magalhaes wrote his thoughts on his Facebook, on the heavy criticism of McGregor Jiu-Jitsu skills. McGregor is a BJJ brown belt under John Kavanagh and has competed in IBJJF tournament both Gi and No Gi.

Vinny used to be one of the top Gi BJJ competitors back when he was still at Gracie Humaita in Brazil. He even became Mundial (World) Champion at brown belt.

He is known for speaking his mind and spoke with no filter:

For everyone sh*tting on McGregor’s Jiu-Jitsu skills, I wonder what they would have done differently if they were exhausted, with an excellent Black Belt on top them throwing some heavy bombs.
I see some BJJ practitioners on my page saying how McGregor needs to learn Jiu-Jitsu, how white belt level his defense (or lack of defense was)… Well, go use your IBJJF Style jiu-jitsu in a fight, go berimbolo someone when strikes are permitted and tell me then how much better than McGregor you are on the ground.

Nate didn’t win because McGregor sucks on the ground, he first was able to tag him on his feet, he started to hurt Conor bad with his boxing, which led McGregor to go for a desperate shot, then like I said before, after getting hurt and being underneath a high caliber grappler, who’s definitely much more skilled than him in that area, there was not much of a surprise to happen what we saw happening.

That doesn’t make YOU BJJ guy who never used your BJJ in a fight (let alone against a high caliber grappler) a better grappler than Conor as you might think.

end of rant…
