Karate Combat Kickback 1, the latest event from the renowned karate promotion, showcased not only captivating karate bouts but also the inaugural “Pit Submission Series” – featuring three Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu matches.
One of those matches was between Vagner Rocha and Luke Griffith.
And, well, Griffith had an obvious size advantage, and is also 20 years younger than Rocha is…
But Rocha came out victorious in the end – following his relentless offensive tactics!
Vagner shared his thoughts going into the match and why he took it regardless:
My initial thought of that match was that it made no sense for me he is 20 years younger 40 pounds heavier and also on a hot streak in competition that was intimidating.
Most people with my credentials and at my age would’ve passed up this match, actually 10 out of 10 would have.
But the goal is to always challenge myself and test my limits.
And sure enough, taking the chance paid off:
One day I will look back and not regret the opportunities that I took.
To those that would pass these types of opportunities. I say this: take every chance you get to evolve.
