Metamoris President Ralek Gracie’s comments to MMA Fighting about not including women in their events angered the BJJ community.
Since Michelle Nicolini vs Mackenzie Dern at Metamoris 2, they didn’t have any more women’s matches.
Ralek said:
“We had that one match and it was cool, but that was more of, ‘That’s cool and that was interesting and I want to see that again if the girls are cute.’ You know how it is. The UFC wouldn’t even have a women’s division if it wasn’t for Ronda Rousey. They wouldn’t even have it. It’s a really, really tricky thing.”
Now BJJEE.com have just heard from trusted sources that one of the major grappling competition circuits will this summer in Texas host a major event for women grappling. Some of the top women in BJJ have been invited to compete for one of the largest cash prizes ever offered to female grapplers. The event is a new pro series. It will also have men’s matches and super fights.
(UPDATE) BJJEE just got confirmation about that event this summer….It will be in June in Dallas Texas….8 of the top women and 8 of the top men are invited to compete for a large cash prize! also there might be some superfights. Some of the biggest names in the sport have already been invited and confirmed.
