Northcutt’s Opponent Unimpressed with Excuses, Wants Rematch

 

Bryan Barberena shocked the world with with an arm triangle submission from half guard against Sage Northcutt in the 2nd round.
An arm triangle from half guard isn’t usually as tight as from the mount or from side control, so many fans were surprised to see Northcutt tap just seconds after Barbena placed the hold.

Bryan Barberena celebrated with a half-hearted somersault in the cage, which appeared to be mocking Northcutt’s usual flip  celebration:

 

Northcutt spoke to Ariel Helwanni off the MMA Hour and explained why he tapped so fast. He stated that he had strep throat and that he was in the ER just days before his fight. Northcutt has also been indefinitely suspended for a foot injury.

 

Barbena wasn’t impressed with the young fighter’s excuses and offered a rematch ASAP:
