New Record for Wrestling’s Biggest Tournament Attendance: 112,380

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a fast growing sport all over the world but it is still has a long way to go before catching up with the oldest sport in the world: Wrestling.

The attendance record for a BJJ tournament was this year at the IBJJF European championship. During the 5 day event, there were 16,000 spectators and competitors.

The record of biggest attendance ever for a collegiate Wrestling tournament has been broken this weekend with total attendance of 112,380 for 3 days at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Penn State won the Championship.

 

The Iowa wrestling team shattered the NCAA attendance record in 2015 in the first meet ever held in a Division I football stadium.

The Hawkeyes beat top-ranked Oklahoma State 18-16 at Kinnick Stadium before a crowd of more than 42,000. Penn State held the previous mark of 15,996 set in 2013.
