MLB Icon Evan Longoria Starts Training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Evan Longoria, a prominent figure in American baseball, has started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu!
The news were shared by Tim Welch, coach of UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley.

During an interview on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Welch disclosed that he has been providing private Jiu-Jitsu lessons to Longoria.
Welch complimented Longoria’s talent for Jiu-Jitsu, noticed during their initial training session:

I actually gave a private to a guy named Evan Longoria, I don’t know if you know him.

Yesterday he contacted me to get some Jiu-Jitsu and he had his first Jiu-Jitsu lesson.
And he did really good.

Longoria, a free agent known for his skillset as a third baseman, boasts an impressive career spanning stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, and Tampa Bay Rays in Major League Baseball (MLB).
He has earned a number of accolades, including Silver Slugger and Gold Glove Awards.

Despite Longoria’s busy schedule, Welch revealed that the baseball star resides in close proximity to him, which means more regular training sessions – about two per week.
Welch also plans to gradually integrate Longoria into training sessions with other amateur practitioners.
