Matt Serra to McGregor: ‘How Dare You Make Fun Of Teaching Kids BJJ!’

Matt Serra is an American former professional mixed martial artist and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who competed for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He currently serves as a UFC on FOX analyst.

At age of 18 he began brazilian jiu-jitsu and won first place at the Brazilian jiu-jitsu Pan American games in 1999 and won third place at the 1999 World Championships in Brazil in the brown belt division. Continuing his Martial Arts career, he competed in the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship choking out Takanori Gomi, winning a decision over Jean-Jacques Machado, and placing 2nd in the 66–76 kg division.

Serra defeated Pete Spratt, Shonie Carter and Chris Lytle en route to becoming The Ultimate Fighter 4 Welterweight Tournament Winner. He captured the UFC Welterweight Championship immediately after, becoming the first of only three to win both accolades (along with Forrest Griffin and Rashad Evans). Serra also served as the head coach for The Ultimate Fighter 6 reality show opposite Matt Hughes. In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Serra holds a Silver Medal in the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship.

Matt Serra didn’t appreciate Conor McGregor’s recent trash talk leading up to his fight with Nate Diaz, which he ended losing to submission. For Serra, McGregor shouldn’t have tapped to that choke.

Serra said on The Three Amigos podcast:

“Not being a c**k, but look at Conor. All the s**t you talked, take a nap, man. It’s not like your arm was about to break. I understand you want your career and if it was a kneebar, you’ll be out for six months, but dude, if worst comes to worst, you’ll think you’re in your bedroom. That’s it.”

“I consider the Diaz brothers friends. They’re like extended family, them being under Cesar and me being under Renzo, we’ve always had mutual respect. They’re such respectful guys. People don’t know that about them, but they really are.”

Serra didn’t like the fact that McGregor trashed talk about Diaz teaching kids Jiu-Jitsu:

“Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy Conor McGregor, but the s**t where he went in on Nate about teaching the kids jiu-jitsu, now look, it’s one thing to be witty and this and that, but now you’re writing some s**t, trying to be clever. You start crossing lines and your karma is not good, either. You start making fun of the guys teaching jiu-jitsu classes… he could be out in the hood doing dirty s**t, but he’s in there teaching kids martial arts, you dumb f**ker. How dare you! That’s f**king stupid. You want to make your money? Make your money, but that’s stupid.

“That annoyed me, and I love the Diaz brothers, so when he (Nate Diaz) f**king lit him up, when he started landing, I was going nuts.”
