Khabib Confirms He’ll Continue Coaching: “One Of The Most Important Things In My Life”

Khabib Nurmagomedov has made an undeniable mark in the world of combat sports, with an unbeaten streak and a legacy that continues beyond the MMA octagon.

Following his retirement in 2020 after defeating Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, Nurmagomedov has dedicated himself to mentoring the future stars of MMA – emphasizing the profound impact of his late father, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, on his decision.

In 2023, Nurmagomedov seemed to momentarily suggest stepping away from MMA entirely, hinting at ending his coaching career as well.
However, he later revised this stance; ultimately choosing to continue coaching his fellow teammates.

During a Q&A session in Canada, Nurmagomedov further elaborated on his coaching role:

It’s not like I’m retired from coaching.
Sometimes I go to the gym, share my experience, with all of my brothers.

It’s not about “I’m retiring from coaching” – but with cornering, fight week… I’m done.

I’m still sharing my knowledge and experience.

He continues to explain:

This is one of the most important things in my life right now, because I still have things to share with them.
Grappling, wrestling, some mental things.

I still coach my brothers.
