Kade Ruotolo Targeting MMA Debut: “Get It Done By March Or May”

Kade Ruotolo, the reigning ONE Lightweight Submission Grappling World Champion, is eyeing his next challenge…
Yes, you’ve guessed it – he wants to fight MMA as soon as possible. As early as March or May this year, actually.

His recent victory at ONE 165 in Tokyo, against Tommy Langaker, could’ve taken an additional turn.
Namely, Ruotolo was willing to replace “Super” Sage Northcutt in a lightweight MMA fight against Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki – a legend he previously defeated in submission grappling.

Ruotolo shared his thoughts on the potential second fight of the night, in an interview with the ONE Championship:

I figured, as long as I don’t get too hurt in the MMA match, I’d have been able to get it done with Tommy as well.

You know, I have so much respect for Shinya. He’s pretty much my hero.
He’s such an absolute legend, and he took on such a big risk taking on John Lineker too, switching up an opponent last minute.

The plan didn’t materialize however, but Ruotolo can’t wait for his MMA debut:

I’d really be stoked to get it done by March or May.
It’s kinda been like my time frame.

I know it’s coming up really quick, but my dream is to become the double-champ for ONE Championship – Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.

Why? Well, among other things, being able to fight MMA means “being a true martial artist” for Ruotolo:

I’d like to consider myself as a true martial artist, you know?
I don’t think I’ve ever turned down a fight, and I feel like I just love to fight.
