Jose Aldo Injured, Bout with McGregor in Jeopardy

The much awaited UFC bout between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor is in jeopardy. During practice on Tuesday morning, at Nova União HQ, in Rio de Janeiro, the organization’s featherweight champion Jose Aldo , suffered a broken rib.

The fighter went through two tests, including a CT scan, which noted the severity of the injury, and has already started intensive treatment. His presence on UFC 189 , which takes place on July 11, and in which he will defend his belts against Ireland’s Conor McGregor , is unsure, as the recovery period for injuries to the ribs are three to four weeks, with rest and medication with anti-inflammatory.

Sources close to the situation confirmed the news  following a report by Combate.

The event is considered the largest of the year, and the fight between the two is considered the biggest grudge match since the rematch between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen at UFC 148.
