JDS, Royce Grace & Demian Maia Analyze Weidman vs Belfort

Weidman and Belfort will fight for the UFC middleweight championship on May 23 at UFC 187 in Las Vegas.

3 of Brazil’s most famous popular MMA fighters talked to Portal do Vale Tudo about the upcoming Weidman vs Belfort UFC title fight:

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos thinks that Belfort can pull off an upset:

“Vitor is very well-rounded, he has good jiu-jitsu, boxing, muay thai and wrestling. Though Weidman has been impressive and he’s a guy who really pushes the pace, I believe Vitor has great chances to beat him, even though he is the underdog”.

UFC legend Royce Gracie is undecided:

“Weidman is very good at executing his strategy, he has been with Renzo for a long time now. He is the new generation. Vitor is experienced, that is what he has going for him, so he knows what he must do. It still is a very hard choice, it could go either way”.

Demian Maia, who fought Weidman in 2012 and has trained with Vitors, offers theis analysis:

“That’s such a hard fight to predict. I fought Weidman before and I trained with Vitor for a long time. Vitor is a really exceptional guy. He’s so strong, explosive and technical. He also has great jiu-jitsu, he can beat anybody when he is able to impose his game. Weidman, however, has never lost, so he has been proving he is the toughest guy to beat at middleweight”.
