Hollywood superstar Dwayne Johnson, popularly known as “The Rock”, is set to take on the role of Mark Kerr – a renowned UFC fighter, in the upcoming movie titled “The Smashing Machine”!
This film promises to dive deep into the life of Kerr, a celebrated two-time UFC heavyweight champion.
Set against the backdrop of MMA’s early days, “The Smashing Machine” aims to capture the essence of UFC’s tournament era and the tumultuous journey that defined Kerr’s life and career.
Johnson, a UFC and MMA enthusiast himself, is collaborating with Benny Safdie – the acclaimed director known for his work on “Uncut Gems” featuring Adam Sandler.
The production of this much-anticipated movie is a joint venture between A24, Seven Bucks Productions – owned by Johnson himself, Eli Bush, David Koplan, and Safdie’s Out for the Count banner.
The movie will not only focus on Kerr’s impressive career in the ring, but it will also delve into his personal struggles, including his battle with substance abuse and his extravagant lifestyle during his fighting prime.
