Two great Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legends have recently been promoted to the rank of a BJJ coral belt – Helio “Soneca” Moreira and Roberto “Gordo” Correa!
They were promoted by none other than an emotional Renzo Gracie, a legend in his own right – who himself was promoted to the coral belt level just over a year ago.
The video of the promotion was shared via social media:

Both Moreira and Correa spent early years of their BJJ careers training under Gracie Barra – and were both eventually promoted to the black belt level by Carlos Gracie Junior.
They both also appeared at the very first edition of the IBJJF World Championship, all the way back in 1996, and stood on top of the podium of their respective divisions; with Moreira winning the gold medal in the light featherweight division, whereas Correa won first place in the middleweight division.
Both men also opened their own academies. Moreira opened the “Helio Soneca Association”, whereas Correa opened “Gordo JJ”
Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
