Monday May 18th is the final deadline for all registrations for the 2015 IBJJF World Championships.
Most of the big names at black belt have already registered but some major names are still missing. The major absentee is Rodolfo Vieira who is healing the same back injury that kept him out of the World Pro last month. Let’s look at who is registered so far.
Male Black belt
Rooster – João Miyao, Koji Shibamoto, Fabio Passos, Ivaniel Cavalcanti. Expected to register soon: Bruno Malfacine. Caio Terra’s name is missing and we still do not know if he will participate.
Light-featherweight – Paulo Miyao, Kim Terra, Vitor Paschoal, Samir Chantre, Carlos Holanda, Bernardo Pitel and Kim Terra. Still missing last year’s champion Guilherme Mendes.
Featherweight – Rafael Mendes, Gianni Grippo, Leo Saggioro, Victor Genovesi, Osvaldo Moizinho and Isaque Paiva. Missing: Rubens Cobrinha and Mario Reis.
Lightweight – Michael Langhi, JT Torres, AJ Sousa, Rodrigo Caporal, Marcelo Mafra, Rodrigo Freitas and Samuel Canquerino. . Mising last year’s champion Lucas Lepri.
Middleweight – Leandro Lo, Otavio Sousa, Victor Estima, Vitor Oliveira, Claudio Calasans Jr., Marcos Souza, Tanner Rice.
Medium-heavy – Gustavo Campos, Keenan Cornelius, Matheus Diniz, Inacio Neto and Renato Cardoso. Romulo Barral.
Heavyweight – Tim Spriggs, Erberth Santos, Felipe Dias, Eliot Kelly, Roberto Torralbas, Arnaldo Maidana and Antonio Antonioli. Missing: Felipe Preguica and Andre Galvao.
Super-heavyweight – Bernardo Faria, Yuri Simões, Igor Silva and James Puopolo.
Ultra-heavyweight – Leo Nogueira, Alex Trans, Ricardo Evangelista, Abraham Marte, Rodrigo Cavaca and Thiago Gaia.
Female black belt
Featherweight – Michelle Nicolini, Tammi Musumeci and Mackenzie Dern.
Lightweight– Bia Mesquita, Luiza Monteiro, Nadia Melo, Jessica Cristina and Fabiana Borges.
Middleweight– Monique Elias, Luanna Alzuguir, Ida Hansson and Sijara Eubanks.
Medium-heavy– Ana Laura Cordeiro, Andressa Correa, Rachel Demara and Leticia Lalli. I
