Versatile Armlock From 3 Different Guard Positions

Versatile Armlock From 3 Different Guard Positions

Having a dangerous guard is one of integral skills in bjj. Anytime an opponent doesn’t posture right or their arm gets too high on your body you have the unique opportunity to catch them in a submission.

From the closed guard what you’re looking for is for the opponent’s  hand to go across your belt line. Grabbing you higher while in your closed guard can be a huge mistake.

As for the very finish the trick is to put your thumb right above the elbow put it down, get a gable grip and crunch up so there’s more of a tension created.

Alternatively you can grab like this:

In this position you would pull down while lifting hips up.

If you’re dealing with someone who has more experience and isn’t too eager to grab on too high while in your closed guard you can always use this move.
