Renzo Gracie Set For Supermatch With Sakuraba

Renzo Gracie returned to bjj competition over the summer having faced Sanae Kikuta over at ADCC to a tight victory. But looks like the 50 year old is not ready to hang up the fight gear just yet.

It was just announced Renzo will be dueling Sakuraba over at ONE FC:

One FC announces @renzograciebjj vs. @saku39ks, the rematch. Renzo, who will be 51, says: “You’re never too old to have fun and learn. My life mission is to absorb knowledge fighting and pass to my family and our students.”

Chatri Sityodtong, Chairman and CEO of ONE Championship, confirmed the statement by declaring that Gracie will compete against Kazushi Sakuraba in his debut with the organization.

“He [Renzo] leaked it, but Renzo Gracie will make his debut in ONE Championship. He’s going to fight Sakuraba.”

Gracie and Sakuraba already engaged in a largely uneventful grappling match at Metamoris 5 in 2014. Sakuraba recently engaged in another grappling match with Frank Shamrock at a RIZIN event in October under grappling rules.

Renzo Gracie vs. Kazushi Sakuraba went down in August of 2000 as part of PRIDE FC 10, and ended with Renzo’s arm broken from a kimura he refused to tap from.
