McGregor Officially Stripped Of Title – Holloway vs Pettis Main UFC 206 Event

 

 

As of tonight’s UFC Fight Night event Conor McGregor is no longer 2 division champion.

The event that set the dethroning in motion is announcing of the new main event of UFC 206.

As previously reported Max Holloway against Anthony Pettis will now be fighting for the interim featherweight title on December 10th card.

All of this has been set in motion by an injury of Daniel Cormier preventing him to fight Anthony Rumble Johnson on said date.

In addition to this UFC tried to initially replace Cormier with Gegard Mousasi however Johnson would no go for it.

This makes Jose Aldo the likeliest to become the new 145-pound champion. Conor of course remains the lightweight champion.

 

The jury is still out if McGregor has agreed to give up the title but it has been widely reported that UFC is within it’s legal rights to do so.

McGregor has yet to speak out. And even though he’d previously said“It’s gonna take a f*****g army” to take one of the belts from him, McGregor nonetheless now finds himself in a pickle…
