Iran Lifts Ban For USA Wrestling Team

Donald Trumps executive order forbidding visas for citizens of several Iranian countries didn’t manage to stick. And in turn Iran has responded and the visas for American wrestlers will be given.

Javad Zarif, Foreign Minister of Islamic Republic of Iran confirmed the news on twitter.

Of course this comes shortly after the US appeals court denied Donald Trump’s request to reinstate the travel ban.

As independent.co.uk reports:

In his written order, Mr Robart said it is not the court’s job to “create policy or judge the wisdom of any particular policy promoted by the other two branches,” but rather to make sure that an action taken by the government “comports with our country’s laws.”

Of course Donald Trump called the order from the so called judge ridiculous.

Previously both Nenad Lalovic, head of UVW and American wrestling team commented:

Team USA released the following response,

At this time, neither USA Wrestling nor United World Wrestling have been officially notified that these reports are accurate. We have no official documentation that the USA Wrestling team will be denied the opportunity to participate at the Freestyle World Cup.

A statement from United World Wrestling President Nenad Lalovic,

Though we had hoped for a different outcome from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, we appreciate the complex nature of this decision. We are currently working to find a solution for the Freestyle World Cup as soon as possible.
