How Alan “Finfou” Nascimento Went From The Favela To Achieving His Jiu-Jitsu Dreams

Alan Nascimento, better known as Finfou has an incredible life journey that took him from the Cantagalo Favela (ghetto) of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to Stockholm, Sweden.

Finfou started Jiu Jitsu in the Cantagalo favela alongside BJJ legend Fernando Terere, Ricardo Vieira, Leandro Martins, Jackson Sousa, and Bruno Matias.

Finfou used Jiu-Jitsu as a way to escape his harsh life. Before he found jiu-jitsu, though, his life could have taken a very different turn. Finfou grew up in the favelas of Brazil, surrounded by crime and violence, which claimed the lives of his two brothers.

Thanks to Jiu-Jitsu, he is now living in Europe where he dedicates his time to raising his family and teaching BJJ at All Stars MMA in Stockholm under the Checkmat affiliation.
