Robert Drysdale is fairly known for his extraordinary fighting skills and also for being quite outspoken about many taboo topics in both BJJ and MMA communities.

One other topic they discussed? Amazing Wrestling of Demian Maia (along with his bjj). Robert Drysdale has been training with him occasionally in Las Vegas.

Of course one topic grappling central podcast always covers is origin story – Robert Drysdale shared stories of growing up, what other sports he tried and what was his first reaction to jiu-jitsu.

One conversation Drysdale shared was comparing complexities of bjj and chess and just why he considers bjj much more challenging!

Mr Drysdale claims he doesn’t see the point of withholding information, which was something that was suggested to him way back when.

Of course Robert Drysdale is adamant he’s not fond of the sport aspects of jiu-jitsu, he claims that’s a view that distances jiu-jitsu from being a martial art. He shared a conversation he had with American Top Team leader Ricardo Liborio that has a stunning conclusion they both agree with: We might be watching the last generation of jiu-jitsu fighters to be successful in MMA.
