Copa Podio Results and Highlights

Another exciting Copa Podio is behind us. Last night Leanro Lo proved his absolute dominance in this type of tournament.

Leandro Lo defeated Nicolas Meregali in a tight first match on points 4-2. From there he went on to face Dillon Danis on advantages and Max Gimenis on points.

Victor Estima had to retire during round two due to injury.

Meregali proved himself a worthy competitor having defeated Gimenis via armbar and scoring 7 points on Dillon Danis. Watch the Sweep he pulled of on Danis:

In group two Erberth Santos was all the rage. After a draw against Calasans he went and submitted Diego Borges via ankle lock, Dan Borovic via kneebar and John Combs via triangle.

Calasans tried to secure a spot in the rest of the tournament by defeating Borovic on advantages and John Combs via guillotine. But it wasn’t enough, his loss from Diego Borges proved integral advancing Borges to the semi finals.

Exciting semifinals featured Santos vs Meregali  and Lo vs Borges. Santos promptly kneebarred young Meregali and met with Lo in the finals.

Lo was in some danger during the finale but he kept his cool through Santos’s toe hold attempt. The score was 2-0 on points in the final minute and a half of the matchup.

Lo managed to secure Santos’ back through some impressive moves. The score promptly changed to 6-0 and from there it was as good as done. Lo tried to secure a cross choke but it wasn’t going well so he opted to taunt the audience and Santos (who previously challenged him).

Borges fought with Meregali for 3rd spot and won via 2-0 score.
