In martial arts like BJJ, Judo or Karate, you will often see instructors with very old black belts that have lost their black colour and actually look white. This shows all the years of hard work, sacrifice, blood, seat and tears.

Funnily enough, an online store is now selling what they call “vintage” martial art black belts.
These are martial arts belts that have been artificially aged. They have 5 types that have gone their ageing process: 25% aged, 50% aged, 70%, 90% aged and even 100% aged! Prices range from 49 to 53USD.
They state:
Black Belt that looks in old condition / often used / belt so that its parts white.
There are aging rates of 25%, 50%, 70%, 90% and 100%
