Bruno Malfacine and Rodolfo Vieira Ready To Represent BJJ at Shooto Brazil

Over the weekend another interesting event will take place – August 27th Shooto Brazil is hosting 74th edition with a new card to mark the beginning of the era.

“This event will really be historical,” says Dedé Pederneiras. “We wanted to make a very strong card for the opening of the Arena, and there was an opportunity for two world super champions of Jiu-Jitsu to be part of that. Our idea is always to have athletes of this size, even though my team came from Jiu-Jitsu and we want to give other teams the opportunity to make the same transition. In addition to Rodolfo and Bruno, we have three belt contests and an international fight from Marlon, who is a guy who has done a lot for the sport. The expectation is the best it can be. “

Bruno Malfacine is one of the most decorated bjj athletes and he’ll be making his MMA debut. At age 30, Malfacine is a 9x World Champion. His opponent will be Romário Boaes, a wrestling specialist and Muay Thai who also makes his debut in the professional dueling MMA that happens in the category of flies (up to 57kg).

Rodolfo Vieira, on the other hand will be making a follow up to his MMA debut. 2nd fight of the 5x World champion in BJJ will be experienced fighter Marlon Sandro with over 35 pro fights.

Vieira won’t be fighting in the ADCC, he explained to flograppling:

“My next fight will be at Shooto Brazil,” Vieira said. “I would have fought on Real Fight in Curitiba, but [there were] some problems and they changed the date, so my manager was able to speak with Andre Pederneiras and get me onto Shooto. I am very happy for the opportunity, and now I’m looking for my second win in MMA.”
“You can have a lot of matches at these events,” Vieira said. “In ADCC you can have a 40 minute match like I did in 2015. So you need to be totally focused on the specific training for this type of competition. It was because of this I decided not to defend my title ADCC this year.”
