BJ Penn Trains With Jose Aldo In The Gi To Prep For Ryan Hall UFC Fight

BJ Penn is trying to make another comeback. In order to make it successful the bjj phenom enlisted the help of Nova Uniao and is having him camp in Brazil under Dede Pederneiras.

In order to achieve this Penn believes he has to go back to his roots and as such he was spotted working extensively in the gi alongside former champion Jose Aldo:

Beasts of Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, José Aldo and BJ Penn shared the Nova União mats at the end of 2018 in an effort to sharpen the ground game to play full force in the UFC.

The 39-year-old former two-division champion elaborated on his plans in an interview on his website:

“I’m just in the process of finalizing a new four-fight contract with the UFC. Everything is going good. I am down here in Brazil. Andre Pederneiras is running the camp. Leo Santos is doing the jiu-jitsu, and Johnny Eduardo is helping me with my striking.”

He was asked for his opinion on Hall’s style, which has been polarizing among MMA fans:

“I think people call Ryan Hall an awkward fighter because he goes upside down and does all the jiu-jitsu stuff and people are sort of afraid because they don’t understand what is going on. But, to me it doesn’t look awkward. It’s just a guy trying to do jiu-jitsu on the ground and I’m ready for that of course.”
