Andre Galvao Shares How To Speed Up Your BJJ Progress

Andre Galvao has a huge list of credits. He’s the leader of one of the most successful teams in sport bjj today – Atos. Atos was founded in 2008 by 3x World Champion and 4xADCC winner Andre Galvao and Ramon Lemos.

While competitive spirit lives strongly in Atos Gyms it isn’t everything according to the latest interview by Galvao.

“I think competition is my life since I started training jiu-jitsu I compete and love it. I think some are born as competitors and I like to be the first one in everything that I do.

Of course it’s really important to know how to learn how to lose, learn how to deal with a loss. And I think that competition teaches you that. The struggles that I have, that I had in competitions it taught me a lot in life as well. And for me jiu jitsu is the most beautiful martial art that I met.”

However when it comes to improving jiu jitsu Galvao has some particular points:

I think the best way to improve faster jujitsu is to train. You need to show up every time. The more you train the more you improve. I think this is like in anything in life, right?

Galvao continued:

I think a great way to improve as well is doing private lessons. I did a lot of private lessons with Professor Terere when I was a purple belt, brown belt. Lots of private lessons and really…

Why? Galvao answered that that’s the best way to find tech to fit your attributes:

“I could learn like things that it was made for my body type and sometimes during

the class like we focus as an instructor we focus a lot and and all the students and in general.”

Alexandre Vieira is one of the most exciting up and coming grapplers today under the Brazilian Top Team flag.  In 2017, his loop choke submission was chosen as the Submission of the Year by FloGrappling. Alexandre recently put together his Crucifix and Loop Choke 3 volume instructional set.  Alexandre brings a modern outlook to some of the sports most devastating, but sometimes ignored positions, the crucifix and the loop choke.
