Romero was informed by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) of a doping violation that came after an out of competition test conducted by USADA.

The UFC made the official announcement on Tuesday, January 12th.

The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Yoel Romero of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.

USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case involving Romero. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

His last UFC bout was on December 12, 2015 at UFC 194 vs Ronaldo Jacare. Romero won the fight via split decision. 2 of 17 media outlets scored the bout in favor of Romero.

He competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and formerly competed in the now-defunct Strikeforce organization. Another one bites the dust! PED failures are I think the only appropriate time to revel in the downfall of others. Thank you @usantidoping.

Going to be a much more difficult yr to use PED’s w/ way more tests. Most young fighters are no longer tempted to use, big change for better
