Gaethje encountered early adversity, when a spinning back kick from Holloway broke his nose.
However, Gaethje displayed his trademark resilience – keeping pace with one of MMA’s greatest strikers.
In the final moments of the fight, Holloway called for both him and Gaethje to exchange blows in the center of the octagon, until the final bell.
Gaethje accepted the challenge.
And then, with about one second left, Holloway landed a vicious overhand right that sent Gaethje crashing to the canvas.
It was one of the most spectacular and, at the same time, terrifying knockouts in UFC history.
