Shane Gillis Made Fun of Joe Rogan: “You Can’t Tap Me. Jiu-Jitsu is G*y”; Rogan Tapped Him Out 8 Times

Joe Rogan has long been one of the most influential people in the bjj community and out of it. The 52 year old stand-up comedian, mixed martial arts color commentator, podcast host, and businessman is notorious for his intense work outs – after all he is a black belt both under Jean Jacques Machado and Eddie Bravo the 10th Planet system.

During high school, Rogan was a practitioner of Taekwondo and gained a black belt at age 15. He soon became the Massachusetts full contact Tae Kwon Do champion four consecutive years. By the age of 19, Rogan won the US Open Tae Kwon Do Championship and, as lightweight champion, went on to beat both the middle and heavyweight title-holders to obtain the Grand Championship. He started judo at the age of 20 and after a year of training received blue belt.

Recently, Rogan found himself compelled to showcase his abilities when confronted by stand-up comedian Shane Gillis from Saturday Night Live.

During a recent episode of Andrew Schulz’s podcast “Flagrant,” Gillis disclosed that he had challenged Rogan to a drunken brawl the previous week, prefacing the story with an exclamation of “Whoops!”

Gillis admitted that he was inebriated and persistently taunted Joe Rogan, asserting that Rogan couldn’t make him submit. Gillis further taunted Joe by expressing derogatory sentiments towards jiu-jitsu.

In response, Joe made Gillis submit eight times within an eight-minute timeframe.

“I was like, ‘you can’t tap me, dude, jiu-jitsu is gay.’ I kept f**ing with him. He tapped me like 8 times.”

Regretting his decision, Gillis remarked, “He made me submit like eight times, man. He just kept going. Adding to Gillis’s discomfort was the presence of another comedian, Ari Shaffir, who instigated the confrontation by encouraging Shane Gillis to stand up. Shaffir claimed that Gillis possessed greater strength than Joe Rogan, to which Rogan confidently replied, “No, he doesn’t.
